Logistics Real Estate Market in Switzerland Grows
Jul 23, 2026 at 5:53 PMWith the expansion of its existing solar power plant, the Hugelshofer Group in Frauenfeld is setting another milestone on the path to greater energy independence and sustainable fuel production. Construction work has begun: the scaffolding is up, the modules are ready, and the expansion of the photovoltaic system is in full swing.
By installing an additional 750 kWp, the total output of the solar plant will increase to 1.85 MWp. This enables the company to lay the foundation for producing a significant portion of its green fuel directly at the site in Frauenfeld in the future.
The expansion brings significant ecological and economic benefits. Annually, around 550,000 liters of diesel can be replaced, and 1,470 tons of CO₂ can be saved. At the same time, the additional electricity production allows for the manufacture of green fuel for approximately two million truck kilometers per year.
A particular focus is placed on the choice of plant technology. The expansion is primarily carried out with horizontally installed solar modules, which achieve a high efficiency, especially during the winter months, thus optimizing energy production throughout the entire year.
